Unconfirmed reports suggest that American champion, John Crow, is expected to enter at least one or two races of the current season of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship.

The International Racing Associated Press has not been able to reach Crow for comments, but the rumors are that Crow has a desire to enter the world most competitive series, but is unable do to do due to certain contractual obligations.

Speculations in regards to Crow’ racing plans and the prospects that he may join Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship later this year has sent shockwaves among race fans worldwide, boosting the sale of Crow’s racing wear collections by as much 153%.

Scuderia Scorpio Rosso announced this afternoon that Tony Sinicropi will be powered by High-Rev next month.

The Italian flamboyant told reporters earlier “I am very optimistic about the next race in May as I will finally have an ultra competitive engine that will allow me to fight for a win. The Leoopard built by High-Rev should produce enough power to allow me to favorably change my driving style. I expect to be competitive next month and to take valuable points for myself in the driver’s championship and for the team as well.”

Earlier this month the team announced that the Chinese super star, Blair Chang, will partner up Sinicropi for the remaining of the year, however, Blair is not expected to join the team until June – Round 5 of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship.

After 3 rounds of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship, the Japanese super star, Larry Hayashigawa remains as the leader in the driver’s championship standing with a total of 595 pts.

The MakLaren driver is followed closely by Brian Phillipsen with 587 pts. With his second consecutive win of the year, the 8-time world champions moved from 6th in the standings of the previous month to 2nd. Many expects Phillipsen to take over the lead in the standings as early as the next round, but Hayashigawa is determined not to let it happen.

“I still have an advantage of 8 pts over him and my CRG/Leopard package has shown a lot of potential. We will work very hard during this break and we have a few things that we will try out for the first time in our wind tunnel. I will defend and hold my position in the world championship.”

Another driver that significantly moved up in the standings is the Irish, Jack Kirkpatrick. The Pherrari driver moved from 5th last month and is now comfortably in 3rd with 580 pts. However, should Tri-C World Counsel agree that Kirkpatrick’s engine change was illegal on Saturday, all points from April’s race could be taken away and it would severely hurt Kirkpatrick’s chance in winning this year’s world title.

Alex King lost his 3rd position he had last month and moved down to 4th in the standings with the total of 566 pts. It is important to note that this include the 200 pts earned in February as “work for points” system allowed him to claim such points. The Brazilian is under intense pressure from the team, MakLaren, to perform in May. Round 4 will be crucial for King’s championship hopes.

“I understand what is at stake here” said King. “I am used to be fighting for the lead in a race and in the championship, not to fight for a middle spot. I must admit that the transition from Senior Sportsman to TAG has been more difficult than predicted, but I am still confident that I can be competitive in this series.”

In 5th position is James Bratton with 545 pts. The Toyoda driver had a disappointing performance on Saturday and moved down from 4th. With SSC Racing providing trackside support to Tri-C TAG MASTERS, there is a good possibility that Bratton will find the speed he needs in the long main straight of Moran Raceway.

John Passon gained two positions and moved up to 6th with 540 pts and is only 5 pts behind 5th place, James Bratton.
“I am very motivated given my last performance and will target to swap positions with Bratton next month and maybe with King” said a relaxed and optimistic Passon.

The Sawber driver, Don Amigliore, alsog gained two positions in the standings. Amigliore is now in 7th with the total of 523 pts. Amigliore should be able to retain this position next month given that Steve Thompson is 34 pts behind him in 8th place with the total of 489 pts. Thompson told reporters earlier this week that he doesn’t not expect significant changes next month.

“I am not holding my breath. We will do what we can but to say that I will be able to fight for a win next month is simply unrealistic. I don’t want to promise anything to my fans but the fact that I will give my body and soul to be competitive next month.”

The second Sawber driver, Brad Bowman lost 3 positions in the standings and is now in 9th with the total of 477 pts. Sawber is quickly becoming one of the most competitive teams among the mid packers and we could see Bowman move up next month.

Surprisingly, the American hero, Kurt Burris is found in 10th place in the world standings with 395 pts. This is primarily due to the fact that Burris missed March’s race and the system is not taking into consideration that he will earn an additional 200 pts as “work for points” and these additional points would allow me to tie with Hayashigawa for the lead in the driver’s championship standings.

These are unofficial results and the official results (for all positions) will be reported later as soon as Tri-C World Counsel hears the expected formal complaints from Pensque and MakLaren in regards to Kirkpatrick’s engine change.

In an effort to increase trackside support within Southern California, SSC Racing has confirmed that Chief Mechanic, James Perez will attend Round 4 of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship at Moran Raceway on Saturday, May 12th.

“We appreciate the business and the praises we received from the karting community of Southern California. Rotax is an important segment of our business and given the increase in popularity of the TAG MASTERS class at Tri-C, we would like to do everything we can to better support our customers there. You can definitely count on us being at Moran Raceway on May 12th. We will be there to provide sales and services to all of our Rotax customers” said Sales Manager of SSC Racing, Joe Ramos Jr.

The International Racing Press Associated picked up a lead this morning, which suggested that the runner-up of the 2005 and 2006 Tri-C Senior Sportsman World Championship, Jeff Wysong, is very close in finalizing a new deal that would allow him to enter TAG MASTERS still in the current season.

Sources suggest that Wysong is over the moon with this latest possibility but has already warned that he will not enter a race until he knows that he has a competitive package and that he is prepared to fight for a win.

It is likely that Wysong may join a team as a test driver as early as June and racing the last 3 rounds of the year in an effort to mount a championship challenge in 2008. Speculations are that Wysong could end up at MakLaren, Mucca Rosso and Scuderio Scorpio Rosso, depending on the chassis supply Wysong ends up signing with.

Beaumont residents woke up in the morning of Saturday, April 14th with the distinctive and screaming sounds of TAG machines as Moran Raceway hosted Round 3 of the Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship, the world most watched sporting event.

“They are too loud and my ears hurt. I can’t talk on the phone because no one can hear me on the other line but engine noise. When they go by that corner my entire house shakes – glasses fall down and pictures can not be hung on the wall anymore. They should ban these guys from racing here” said Maria Guadalupe, a Beaumont resident living 127 blocks away from the track. However, the same could not be said from another local resident Lewis Palmer.

“Oh no, it doesn’t bother me at all, I love it! It is a privilege to live in Beaumont because we get the opportunity to see the best drivers and the best teams in the world – 5 times this year. Yes, it is true that when they go by everything inside the house shakes and a few things fall on the floor but I love it. The fact that this series race here in Beaumont has increased property value in the area by about 578%. I bought my home last year for $206,433 and just last week some broker representing a Russian buyer offered $1,399,615 in cash in addition to a 365-day paid vacation on a cruise around the world. That is insane, I can’t believe that my 2-bedroom 745 sf is worth this much.”

Local residents are getting used to the noise - TAG Engines and Fire Jets

Palmer’s statement is verified by recent real estate data as Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship is known to be a key factor in revitalizing the entire local region.

Life in local region has changed since the arrival of TAG MASTERS. It’s the ruthless competition - the fastest drivers in the fastest machines in the world competing for every inch of the track – and that is what race fans around the world saw as Speed Canal transmitted the race live worldwide on Saturday.

Race -

Heavily favored to win by odd makers in Las Vegas casinos, Ty Matta appeared set to win his first race in the series as the Filipino-Mexican-American pilot comfortably set the fastest lap in qualifying, taking his second consecutive pole. However, as it occurred last month, the Renawlt has proved to be outstandingly fast but also unreliable – leaving the door open for the 8-time world champion, Brian Phillipsen to set the race fastest lap of 1:07.032 and to score another win – second consecutive win of the year.

The race started with a fantastic move from Kurt Burris. The American hero made a daring move on the outside of turn 1 to take over the lead from Matta while Brian Phillipsen and Jack Kirkpatrick following closely. The Japanese super star, Hayashigawa, did not have a very good start and allowed Kirkpatrick to go by while Larry Rochelle, Alex King and John Passon followed.

Outpaced by Burris at turn 1, Ty Matta quickly programmed himself to regain the lead of the race as he settled down in second place in the first lap of the race. However, the Renawlt proved once again to be unreliable and let the Filipino-Mexican-American down in the downhill S.

“I did not have a very good start but I knew I was faster than Kurt and was getting ready to make a move on him when the kart suddenly stopped running in the downhill S. I thought it was an engine problem but I quickly realized that the throttle cable was the issue. It is disappointing because I was expecting to win today and we will have to re-group to try again next month.”

The race was primarily dominated by the Pensque team with Kurt leading the first 4 laps of the race, until the 8-time world champion, Brian Phillipsen, made a conclusive move to the lead, as Phillipsen explained.

“Once Matta went out I only had Kurt in front of me and I knew it was a matter of time until I could make a move on him. So, I waited for the right time and once I was by him, it was just a matter of maintaining my position and managing my lead. I never felt any pressure from either Kurt or Jack – they were never a threat.”

Kurt Burris could not disagree more with Phillipsen in regards to his assessment of the race. “Absolutely not. I had brake problems and you can check it for yourself. Had I not suffered brake problems, there is no way in this world that Brian would have made a move on me. With Burris Tires, my kart had a much better handle and was a lot more consistent than Brian’s kart. It didn’t happen today but my win will come.”

Suffering break problems, Burris had to let Kirkpatrick by and eventually settled down to third in the race with his fastest lap of 1:07.352.

Race fans show their support for the men of TAG MASTERS

One of the hottest topics in the paddock was the reliability (or lack of) in regards to the Pherrari’s engine. As previously reported, Kirkpatrick suffered a major engine explosion while leading the race last month and blew up another engine only a few days before Saturday’s race. Speculations were that Pherrari set a rev limit on Kirkpatrick’s engine and could be the reason for Kirkpatrick being unable to fight for pole and a relatively poor showing at Heat 1.

“The kart sucked at qualifying and we had to change the engine prior to the race because my engine was dead. I could not go past 20,000 rpm” said Kirkpatrick.

Roger Pensque (Pensque) and Ronaldo Denis (MakLaren) were not happy with the fact that Race Officials allowed Kirkpatrick to change the engine prior to the Main Heat. “The rules do not allow the driver to change engines unless there is a significant issue with the engine” said Pensque. Dennis also added “not been able to go past 20,000 rpm is not a significant issue to me. It basically means that Kirkpatrick wants an engine that will go past 20,000 rpm and Pherrari is using its influence to bend the rules. This is outrageous.”

A hearing has been schedule for April 28th in Geneva as Pherrari and MakLaren are both expected to formally protest against Pherrari’s engine change before Tri-C World Counsel.

Regardless of the change, the Irish, Jack Kirkpatrick did not seem to be able to mount a challenge for the lead as Phillipsen won the race over 3 seconds ahead of him.

“It was a difficult race for us today” admitted Kirkpatrick. “We did not set up the kart right for qualifying and we paid the price. We did have engine issues at Heat 1, contrary to what many are saying and the engine change is legal. It is true that I had a rev limit of 21,000 rpm as we didn’t want to take any unnecessary risk. Finishing in the points today was important and finishing in the podium was crucial for the driver’s championship. We will do better next month – you can bet on that!”

Indeed it was an important finish for the Irish as he collected valuable points as a second place finisher with his fastest time of 1:07.630.

The Japanese super star, Larry Hayashigawa, was very lucky to salvage a fifth place finish in the race. After a poor start, Hayashigawa had intense pressure from the second Pherrari driver Larry Rochelle.

“I think Hayashigawa was much wider than 55 inches” said Rochelle. I was faster than him but just could not go around him. I just didn’t have enough space to go around his kart.”

Rochelle was desperate to go by the Japanese as it would take crucial points from Hayashigawa in the driver’s championship and from MakLaren in the constructor’s championship. However, the more experienced driver, Hayashigawa defended well his position and forced Rochelle into a mistake at turn 1. Hayashigawa stated “I went backwards today in terms of set up. Things were looking very good in practice and in qualifying but the changes I made did not help and I had no grip, so I was off pace and forced to defend my position.”

Hayashigawa’s teammate, Alex King was following the battle of Larry vs. Larry closely ahead of him and saw Rochelle go off in turn 1 right before his eyes.

“It’s a very fast turn and I was closing in into Rochelle and adding the pressure so I think he wanted to get by Hayashigawa as fast as he could and was over aggressively at turn 1 and went off. In the process, an unidentified material or part flew off Rochelle’s kart and hit me. Luckily, I turned my head down and only my helmet was damaged – it was going straight to the visor and that could have been a problem.”

Once King went by Rochelle, he challenged his teammate for a position and eventually went by at the hairpin. However, King’s race pace dropped dramatically by lap 7 due to fatigue and he eventually lost fourth place to Hayashigawa.

The third round of the world championship was the stage of a new record breaking - Rochelle and King had the closest race finish – only .002 set the two apart with Rochelle finishing in fifth and King finishing in sixth.

“I could have done better today” said Rochelle “but I made mistake at turn 1 and later I spent a lot of time behind Alex. I think I was slightly faster than him but he held me up.”

King admitted at the post-race press conference that he held up Rochelle. “It was a valid position and important one and I tried to defend it. TAG MASTERS is very physically demanding and I was felling the demands of it. I overly exhausted and could not concentrate on racing anymore, so I tried to do my best to hold my position.”

John Passon finished in 7th place and had one of his personal fastest race lap – 1:07.880. The Mucca Rosso driver did not have a very good start and spent the entire race behind the battle of Hayashigawa, Rochelle and King.

“It is disappointing because I was faster than the three of them today, but I just couldn’t go around them. We were really evenly matched today in a way. I do think that Alex was holding both Rochelle and I and had he let us gone by we could have probably worked together to pass Hayashigawa. Today’s race was very encouraging for the team because we have improved our time and hopefully we will continue that next month.”

The remaining three spots in the top 10 were taken by Rick Holevas (8th), James Bratton (9th) and Brad Bowman (10th). All three drivers battled each other out for most of the race.

Holevas had a very respectable performance as he qualified in 13th place and gained 5 positions. “It was an enjoyable race today. The vast majority of the race was pretty much me, James Bratton and Brad Bowman fighting for a position and in the end I overcame them both. It was not easy.”

Toyoda’s leaves the race with more problems than they came with. James Bratton is simply unable to find the straight line speed needed to be competitive at Moran Raceway. “I don’t have it, I simply don’t have it. The engine basically slow downs right before turn 1 and I still don’t have grips. So here we are again, a month later with the same problems we had last month. Nothing that the team has done worked today.”

The Sawber driver, Brad Bowman, continue to satisfy team sponsors as he finished in the top 10 once again – for the second time in the year. “Very pleased with our race today. It was a hard battle with Bratton and Holevas and unfortunately, it did not turned too well for me, but it could have. So, I could have finished 8th today and that is motivation for us, for the Sawber team to continue to push and work harder.”

Another 6 divers were able to complete the race. Steve Thompson (11th), David Ayotte (12th), Craig Pfeifer (13th) and Donald Amigliore (14th) all finished very close to each other. Thompson had a very ill handling kart and could only manage a personal best lap of 1:09.667. Ayotte followed closely with his personal best lap of 1:09.929. Behind Ayotte came Pfeifer who was actually faster with a personal best lap of 1:09.804 but simply lacked the horsepower to make pass at Moran Raceway. The second Sawber driver, Donald Amigliore had a best personal lap of 1:09.681.

The veteran Eric Lazar finished in 15th and appeared optimistic with his result. “We have been working very hard for the past 24 months developing a new steering wheel for me and it is finally here. All of the kart controls are within the reach of my hands so it is much easier to drive now. The steering wheel follow the example of a Formula 1 steering wheel and with time, I will certainly pick up speed.” Mike Taylor had the honor to cross the finish line in last place (16th). Taylor’s engine was misfiring from the very beginning of the race but the team decided to keep going and use the race as a testing stage for the next race.

Once again, George Gallardo had to withdraw from the race. As occurred in March, the Italian complained once of severe cramps and it is not yet known if that was the real reason for his withdraw. Jeff Green and Cory Murdock did not officially communicate to Race Officials of their intend to withdraw and both have been fined $250,000 for a DNS.

The total of two drivers did not finish the race. As previously reported, Ty Matta had a broken throttle cable while he was in second place. Art Laski suffered a broken exhaust spring while in 10th place and was forced to retire.

Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship will return to Moran Raceway once again on May 12th and race fans worldwide can expect a very exciting race – perhaps the most exciting of the year. Brian Phillipsen has already 2 race and Jack Kirkpatrick has one. However, Ty Matta and Kurt Burris have both proven to be extremely fast. Larry Hayashigawa continues to lead the driver’s championship and is determined to strategically win the championship. Rochelle, King, Passon and Bratton all have similar speed and are fighting to establish dominance within this sub-group. They desperately need to move up and fight with the front runners to keep hoping for a driver’s title. All other drivers, including but not limited to Holevas, Bowman, Thompson, Ayotte, Laski, Gallardo, Lazar, Greene are working extremely hard with their respective team to gain an edge over the other. Round 4 will be one of the most competitive race of the year – all drivers and teams are expected to be on their limits.

Ty Matta once again dominated qualifying, for the second consecutive time this year, and is quickly setting the reputation for being the fastest driver in the world. The Renawlt driver was clearly the fastest driver of the grid today as he set his pole lap of 1:07.163 – exactly .570 ahead of second place sitter Jack Kirkpatrick.

“Track conditions were not ideal, certainly not the same as last month, but nevertheless, I am very pleased with my performance today” said Matta.

The Filipino-Mexican-American pilot appeared calm and confident for the race.

“To be honest, I could have pushed a little more if I really wanted but did not felt it was necessary. I knew I was way faster than anyone else by sector 3 so I took a bit easy in an effort to save my tires for the race. I think we will do very well and hopefully I won’t have any mechanical issues as I had last month.”

The 2003 Tri-C Senior Sportsman Novice World Champion, Jack Kirkpatrick appeared satisfied in qualifying in second place. Last month, the Pherrari driver suffered a major engine explosion and earlier this week, Kirkpatrick had once again issues with his engines. Many believed that Pherrari would have a rev restriction on Kirkpatrick engine but the team has yet to confirm that.

“It’s a shame that I didn’t have a good enough kart to fight for pole. It did not handled well and I think that is the reason I am not on pole. However, starting in the front row is important and I am prepared to go down the straight neck and neck with Matta. I have absolutely no concerns in regards to my engine and I will push as hard as I have to in order to fight for a win today.”

Heavily criticized last month for failing to qualify in the top 3, Brian Phillipsen was able to edge out his teammate, Kurt Burris, for third place with a lap of 1:07.788 – only 0.055 behind Kirkpatrick. The outspoken driver appeared irritated when his lap time was compared with Ty Matta’.

“Once again, you guys are already making a big fuss about Matta’s qualifying performance and once again I am telling you all that I don’t really care about qualifying. Sure, it is important to qualify up front but it does not mean that I am faster nor slower than anyone else. The race pace is what really matters. The race result is what really counts. My goal is to win a race, not to qualify on pole” said Phillipsen.

Kurt Burris returned to the cock pit of the Pensque this month and quickly established himself as a front runner by qualifying in fourth place. The American hero felt confident of a good race result:

“I think I could have qualified better today, but I am not really going to complain about anything. I think we need to make some final adjustments. I don’t think the gear I had was ideal and I think my tire pressure was a bit off as well. All in all, starting from the second row makes me feel pretty good about the race. We have a good strategy in place.”

Championship leader, Larry Hayashigawa had his best qualifying performance of the year. The Japanese super star will start from fifth place in the race and admitted to struggle in getting up to speed right away for a single lap as required in qualifying.

“We are very weak in qualifying and it is something we are well aware that needs to improve. Considering I had too much grip today, I can not really complain about qualifying in fifth. It is an inside position and hopefully I can pick up a few spot at the start and go from there.”

George Gallardo had an impressive debut last month as he qualified in third. However, the Italian disappointed today as he qualified in 6th place with a lap time of 1:08.257. Gallardo was forced to withdraw from the race last month (March) as he complained of extreme cramps. The Italian was cleared fit to race earlier this week, but many insiders suggested that it was too early for a return to competitive racing.

“I am ready and fit to race” said Gallardo. “It was my first race in the world championship last month and I guess I wasn’t prepared for the intense pressure, but I am now. My poor qualifying performance has nothing to do with what happened last month. I am just struggling with the balance of my kart and that is it. I am hopeful that we will find the proper set up and be competitive later in the day.”

In an effort to build momentum to challenge for the constructor’ s championship, Pherrari brought Larry Rochelle to partner up the Irish, Jack Kirkpatrick.

“This is not a permanent position” said Pherrari boss, John Todt. “Larry comes with a very impressive racing record and we will see how he adapts to our team and to this series. His job today is to get used to this level of racing and hopefully to get some points for us.”

Rochelle had a respectable debut as he qualified within the top 10. “I am never satisfied with my performance, unless I am number 1. I qualified in 7th with a lap time of 1:08.365. I understand that some may find it impressive for qualifying in the top 10 in my first race, but I want more and I will fight hard for a position in the race.”

Things are not expected to be easy for the rookie Rochelle when the green flag is shown. Next to him, the experienced Mucca Rosso driver, John Passon will start from 8th and can make things difficult for Rochelle.

“I know I know I know that I could have done better” said Passon. I just lost a bit at turn 2, but I know that I have a good package today that will allow me to fight harder in the race. I expect a difficult race, but I feel good about my chances of a good result today. The revised 75-DR engine seems to be working very well for me today.”

James Bratton continues to struggle with his Toyoda. The revised bodywork XR-754 has disappointed and latest development made to Bratton’s Rotax engine has not been sufficient.

“I am really disappointed” said James Bratton. “We worked so hard for the past month and we thought we could actually fight for pole today but we are still way off, way off. I just don’t have the grip in the corners and when I get to the main straight, I don’t have the top end speed. It’s frustrating!”

Claiming the last spot in the top 10, Alex King qualified with a lap time of 1:08.658, a very disappointing performance for the Brazilian.

“I am very disappointed. The kart is still very nervous at turn 2 and 3 so I lost a lot of time there. We don’t have the right set up and the issue is that we don’t really know what the problem really is, so we can’t even attempt to make it better. The only encouraging thing I can take out of this is that I was a full second behind my teammate, Hayashigawa at yesterday’s practice and I am now about half second behind. Hopefully, I can find a way to close this gap during the race.”

Steve Thompson, Art Laski and Rick Hovelas fought a close battle for the 11th, 12th and 13th places respectively. Mucca Rosso did not have enough time to give a full set of new tires to Steve Thompson, so he was forced to qualify with new set of front tires only.

“Kart as very difficult to control during practice so we decided to change tires” said Thompson. “However, we did not have enough time and we had to make a decision to go with new front tires only. The handling was better, but I had a very hard time with my back end.”

The only driver in the grid with a Motori-Seven engine package, Art Laski failed to meet team’s expectations. “We targeted top 10” said Laski “and I would have accomplished that. I was on my way to top 10 but I got stuck behind Jeff Greene at the exit of turn 17 so that ruined my momentum and my chances of a better qualifying position.”

Rick Hovelas appeared satisfied with his 13th qualifying position. “I have to be realistic, we are under a very tight budget and have limited resources. The 13th spot was the best we could do today” said Hovelas.

The Sawber team of Brad Bowman and Donald Amigliore took the 14th and 15th spots respectively. Bowman was realistic about his chances in the race today:

“It’s extremely competitive out there and we are about 3 seconds behind the pole sitter. We have done a lot of work back the factory and we understand that a lot more needs to be made. Realistically, we are targeting to be in the middle of the pack today. We have a lot of work scheduled during the next couple of weeks and hopefully we will be able to fight for the top 10 next month.”

Craig Pfeifer took the 16th spot with a lap time of 1:10.694 and had a comfortable margin ahead of 17th place Jeff Greene with a qualifying lap time of 1:13.428. The rookie, Jeff Greene, complained of handling issues with his kart. “There is no grip, absolutely no grip. We will go back to the garage and see what we can do to improve our race pace.”

The last row was filled by Cory Murdock with a qualifying lap of 1:15.768 and Mike Taylor with a lap of 1:16.243.

The expectations are very high for the race later today. Ty Matta has proven to be very fast and is certainly the favorite to win today – will Renawlt give him a reliable package? Kirkpatrick second place in qualifying did not convince experts that he has a kart that is good enough to fight for a win today. Pherrari has had too many engine issues lately. Brian Phillipsen is the most experienced driver and always dangerous despite not having an impressive qualifying performance – can he win back to back? The American hero, Kurt Burris is always a crowd favorite and set the race fastest lap in February. The Japanese super star, Hayashigawa, is the championship leader – will he retain this position after the race today? The Italian George Gallardo has been clear by doctor officials – is he really fit enough to complete a race distance? Which drivers in the back of the pack will move up to the middle of the pack? Which driver in the middle of the pack will surprise and fight with a front runner?

Following another engine failure, just occurred on Sunday, April 8th in preparation for this Saturday’s race, the 2003 Tri-C Senior Sportsman World Champion remains optimistic and confident of a strong show on Saturday.

“Of course I was not pleased to see that and I was obviously concerned for the upcoming race, but Pherrari always has a contingent plan and we are actually ready to go. We were not scheduled to, but made an exception for a last minute special test session that took place yesterday and my new engine is just fine. I have not lost any power, the kart is very strong and I am very confident for Round 3.”

Despite Kirkpatrick’s confident, experts are not totally convinced yet that Pherrari has what it takes to win the race on Saturday. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Pherrari will have to be conservative on Saturday and focus on getting crucial points, rather than a win. It is expected that Pherrari will be forced to put a rev limit on Kirkpatrick’s engine.

Tri-C Medical Officials have declared Dennis Uebersetzig unfit to race this Saturday for Round 3 of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship.

“Dennis did not pass the medical exams this morning. We can assure you that he has not taken any illegal substances, it is not the issue here” said Dr. Witkins. “Given the stress of a grand prix weekend, given the physical demands of piloting a TAG and the mental stress a pilot experience during a race in this world championship, it is our opinion that Dennis is not physically prepared to handle it at this time and it is our advice to race officials to not allow him to race. It is a risk, a risk to Dennis’ life that we simply can not take.”

The German is thought to be highly disappointed with this news and appears to accept this medical decision as he left Moran Raceway this morning back to his hotel.

“It has been a very difficult week for me with a number of promotional engagements and I haven’t really been able to take care of myself. I have worked very hard for the past couple of weeks, focusing on improving my kart and I guess I may have worked a bit too much on that and I am paying the price today. It is disappointing but I have to respect Dr. Witkins’ opinion.”

This is a major blow to Toyda as it tries to retain its second position in the Constructor’s Championship.

According to Italian Associated Press, Jack Kirkpatrick blew up his race engine during his final test at Moran Raceway on Sunday, April 8th, in preparation for Round 3 of the world championship.

Pherrari is thought to have solved the engine problem that caused the failure during March’s race, and the team was very optimistic about the up coming Grand Prix. This is a major setback for the Irish driver and the Italian squad as they attempt to regain momentum in the championship to mount a challenge for the constructor’s and driver’s world title.

It is not yet know the caused of the engine failure, but some are suggesting driver’s error.

French squad, Renawlt, confirmed to international racing media that the Filipino-Mexican-American, Ty Matta will be piloting for the team this Saturday for the third round of Tri-C TAG MASTRS World Championship. Team boss, Fabio Briatore is ecstatic: “For a moment things were not looking very good for us because we could not confirm Matta, but now that his Tri-C Super License has been approved and most importantly, issued, I think the race on Saturday will be fantastic. The expectations are very high within the team.”

Confirmation that Matta will race Saturday is certainly great news for the sport and race fans around the world as Matta had an electrifying debut last month.

“I am really looking forward to this race” said Matta. “I think Renawlt has given me a perfect package. The combination of the Top Kart and Leopard is what I need to be competitive. I broke two records last month and I intend to break them again this Saturday. I think the track will be even faster this time. But, I think, most importantly, I want to come out with a win.”

Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship – Round 3 – Team Preview

The competition is expected to intensify at Round 3 as each team start to establish themselves in the Constructor’s Championship and each driver is looking for an edge to move up in the Driver’s Championship. Here is a preview of the Top 6 teams in the constructor’s standing so far:

MakLaren International – 779 pts

Leading the Constructor’s Championship with 779 pts, the team is highly motivated heading into Round 3. Newly signed to the team, the Japanese super star, Larry Hayashigawa leads the Driver’s Championship standing with 399 pts, followed by his teammate, Alex King, in the second place with 380 pts. Despite leading the championship, MakLaren is not considered the favorite to win this Saturday. However, always a threat, MakLaren is expected to be competitive enough to capitalize on anyone’s mistakes.

Ronaldo Dennis (Team Principal): “We are very pleased with how things have been, though I don’t think we have the very best package in the grid, yet. We have one final test scheduled for Friday, April 13th and we are looking forward to that, in particularly, due to the fact that we will be working with our new Test Development Manager, Tyler Brooks. I think that our drivers will be pleased with this new relationship.”

Larry Hayashigawa (Japan): “I have settled down with this team much faster than anticipated and our third place finish last month was satisfactory considering that it allowed me to take over the lead in the championship standing. It’s hard to predict how things will turnout and we will know more after our test on Friday. I am really looking forward to Round 3.”

Alex King (Brazil): “I had a difficult debut last month as I had a number of mechanical issue. However, everything was very encouraging. I was happy that I was able to match the speed of my teammate, I think that is an important first step and I was really pleased on how my Manager, Sir Robert Brooks assisted me from the very beginning to the end of the race. I would have not made it without his help. Friday testing will give us a good indication on how we will do on Saturday.”

Toyoda Racing Team – 697 pts

Toyoda’s most valuable asset is its drivers. Combined, James Bratton and Dennis Ubersetzig, have one of the most impressive racing records. Bratton has dominated racing in Europe in the past 3 years. The American is the 2004, 2005 and 2006 CalSprinters TAG European Champion, while the German, Ubersetzig, is the 2006 runner-up. It is no secret that this pair of drivers, have been the key to Toyoda’s latest success. Toyoda is currently in second place in the Constructor’s World Championship, a position that Toyoda holds comfortably with 697 pts. James Bratton is in 3rd place in the Driver’s Championship with 374 pts, while his teammate, Dennis Ubersetzig is in 9th place with 323 pts. Toyoda has shown it can compete with the front runners and the expectations are very high for this Saturday's Grand Prix, considering the latest aerodynamic and engine development.

Satoro Nakamura (Team Principal): “We have not been able to give the best kart to our drivers and that is the only reason they are not leading in the driver’s championship. I am certain that given the right equipment, James and Dennis can fight for a win. I am optimistic about our chances this Saturday and we hope to close in the gap in the constructor’s championship between us and MakLaren.”

James Bratton (USA): “We have done a lot of aerodynamic work since our last race in conjunction to improving output power from our Rotax engine. The telemetry shows that I had the speed, I was one of the fastest driver in the infield part of the track, but lost a lot of time in the main straight. The issue I have with my kart is straight line speed and I am confident that improvements have been made and I will be able to challenge for a win this Saturday.”

Dennis Ubersetzig (Germany): “James has taken on the aerodynamic development for our team and I have been focusing on a new Leopard engine. I think I have it down now and I think that a Leopard suits my style a bit better. I am very optimistic for this up coming race and I expect my best result so far in this season.”

Mucca Rosso – 685 pts

The surprise of the year so far in the constructor’s championship is the fact that we have Scuderia Mucca Rosso in third place. This is a team that despite having a limited budget, has been able to consistently add points in the first two rounds. Veteran driver, John Passon, brings a lot of experience to the team and has been unlucky in both events so far. At Round 1, a young Tag Senior Driver spun off right in front of him at Turn 1. At Round 2, a back marker ruined his qualifying lap and later another back marker blocked him during the race at Turn 17. If Passon gets a clear track, he could surprise many and move up in the grid. Steve Thompson has been suffering from extensive vibration since the winter testings. The kart appears always very nervous through the turns. Though the team has been looking for a possible solution, it does not appear that Thompson will have a kart package that is good enough to fight for a win – a disappointment given the talented driver he is. Mucca Rosso is currently in third place in the Constructor’s Championship with 685 pts.

John Passon (France): “I hope that this time no back marker will ruin my race or qualifying lap. I don’t think we are ready to fight for a win, yet, but I am confident of a significant improvement.”

Steve Thompson (USA): “It will be a tough race. We have limited budget and we have not been able to test as much as Pherrari and Pensque, so it is hard to fight with them when we don’t test as much as them. However, overall, we have a good team and our sprits are still high.”

Pensque – 560 pts

Highly tipped to win both the Constructor’s and Driver’s Championship, Pensque is probably the strongest team in the series. Currently in fourth place in the Constructor’s Championship with 560 pts, the team has fined tuned the chassis and is known to have the strongest engine package in the grid. The excellent relationship they have with tire supplier, Burris Tires, is an advantage that no racing budget can buy. Surprisingly, Pensque has not been able to get the points expected out of them, however, no one can count them out. Expect Pensque to be extremely competitive this Saturday.

Brian Phillipsen (USA): “The team has done an excellent job in recent tests. I am very confident that we have a competitive package. I am pleased with the set up we have and by the fact we are powered by MAXX engines. I am targeting my second win and I am really not concerned about anyone else.”

Kurt Burris (USA): “It is great to be back and I intend to pick up where I left – I was the fastest man of the race in February. Brian has done most of the test for us in regards to set up and I am very pleased with what the team has reported. I think that Burris Tires will make a difference on Saturday. The expectations are very high.”

Pherrari – 369 pts

One of the favorite team to win the Constructor’s and Driver’s Championship, however, internal issues have set them back slightly. Earlier in the season, Japanese star, Larry Hayashigawa, unexpectedly left the team. Larry’s absence has been a major blow to Pherrari in the Constructor’s Championship. Jack Kirkpatrick is the only driver Pherrari brought to Round 2 and the Irish was not able to deliver the goods due to an engine failure. Speculations are that Pherrari already has a driver that will partner up Kirkpatrick at Round 3. Pherrari has peformed over 28 test sessions since the last Grand Prix and Kirkpatrick is one of the favorite to win on Saturday. A battle between Kirkpatrick and the American star, Brian Phillipsen is expected.

John Todt (Team Principal): “We are not happy with how things have gone for us in the Constructor’s Championship, but we are confident that we have a competitive package and as the season unfolds, we will be fighting for the lead. Everyone is also disappointed that our engine failed last month. We have made all arrangements necessary and we feel that Kirkpatrick will have a very competitive package. We are looking to go back to our dominating form we had at Round 1.

Jack Kirkpatrick (Ireland) – “It was disappointing to not to finish last time while leading the race and I am confident that Pherrari will have a very competitive package this weekend. We have tested extensively and I am felling really good about our chances. With all honestly and in my humble opinion, I expect to qualify on pole and I expect to win the race. I am pumped and I am going for it.”

BNW Sawber - 369 pts

Sawber is a team that is very aware of their capabilities this season. They have set realistic goals and are using the 2007 season as a development year to launch a real championship challenge in 2008. However, the team should be very pleased since they are currently tied with giant, Pherrari, for fifth place in the Constructor’s Championship – 369 pts each. Sawber race pace improved significantly at Round 2. The expectations are that they will still be in the middle of the pack.

Brad Bowman (USA) – “Still chasing set up. This is how it is when we have a new chassis. It takes time and I am confident we will get there. For now, our goal is to accumulate as much points as possible. The Constructor’s Championship is just as important as the Driver’s Championship.

Donald Amigliore (Italy) – “Unfortunately, we have been able to test as much as the other teams, but nevertheless, I am positively looking forward to this race. I am a rookie in this series and the goal is to accumulate as much points as possible.”

Jack Kirkpatrick dominated Round 1 with a superb performance, claiming Pole Position, winning Heat 1 and winning the Main Heat. However, it was the American hero, Kurt Burris who set the race fastest lap of 1.07.613 and the expectations that he would fight for a win at Round 2. Brian Phillipsen disappointed his fans. The Pensque driver never appeared to be competitive and had mechanical issues, which resulted in a DNF.

Kurt Burris did not race the second round of the season. However, his teammate, Brian Phillipsen did. The 8-time world champion hit back at his critics with his maiden win, but did not convince that he is still the fastest driver in the world. Phillipsen’s win was overshadowed by a masterful display of natural racing skills from Ty Matta, who had a remarkable debut in the series by shattering the qualifying lap record (1:06.44) and race fastest lap (1:06.675). Kirkpatrick’s engine exploded in spectacular fashion and the Irish pilot missed his chance to extend his lead in the driver’s championship standing. Instead, it was the Japanese super star, Larry Hayashigawa, that strategically raced to claim his second consecutive podium of the year, which allowed him to take over the lead in the championship standing.

Round 3 is expected to be the most emotional and exciting race of the year. Kirkpatrick and his Pherrari team have tested 28 times since the last Grand Prix. Pensque will be in full force with both drivers, Brian Phillipsen and Kurt Burris behind the wheel. Phillipsen is looking to keep up the momentum of his win from last month and Burris knows he is naturally fast. Larry Hayashigawa is now settled with his new team, MakLaren, and both are prepared to do whatever it takes to retain their leads – in the driver’ and constructor’ championship standing.

Team boss, Fabio Briatore, is unable to confirm Ty Matta for Round 3 of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship.

“We are very disappointed and we are diligently working on a solution” said Briatore. “No one informed us that the Tri-C Super License granted to Matta last month was a temporary one. My feelings are that given Matta’s racing record and his ability to compete with the best in the world as he did last month, this should not be an issue and he should be allowed to race this Saturday.”

Matta’s absence would certainly be a loss to fans, however, it might also be a relief to some of the TAG MASTERS pilots as Matta proved to be extremely fast in his debut.

The Filipino-Mexican-American star has been unreachable and no comments from Matta's management team have been made in regards to this latest news.

Tri-C Officials announced this morning that all pilots in the Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship must provide a copy of their Tri-C Super License this Saturday, April 14th.

"As you all know, no one can compete in the world championship without been granted the Tri-C Super License. This is probably one of the most valuable document a pilot can have due to the requirements each pilot must meet in order to obtain such license. We are very concerned with counterfeits. We have implemented a new security system so we must check every single pilot this Saturday" said Tri-C TAG MASTERS boss, Bernardo Ecclestone.

Tri-C Officials will have the latest D-347 database security system at Moran Raceway. In the case a pilot is unable to actually bring their Tri-C Super License, the D-347 system will be able to match pilot's records as long as a pilot can SHOW a copy of their Driver's License or Birth Certificate, in addition to finger priting.

After returning to the cockpit on Saturday, March 31st, the German has made the headlines of various news agencies worldwide, where many started to speculate the future of the German driver. AEIOU International Racing Radio Network was granted today an exclusive 30-minute private interview with Mike Schumacher Goebel.

AEIOU: First of all, congratulations on your return to racing.

Goebel: Well, not totally yet. I went out on Saturday and had a good feel but I am not totally back yet.

AEIOU: What do you mean you are not back yet?

Goebel: I certainly would like to be back. Racing is in my blood and that is what I like to do very much. However, I don’t want to race any mediocre racing series. I want to race with the best in the world. I must race TAG MASTERS.

AEIOU: If that is the case, why don’t you race the third round of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship in April?

Goebel: For two reasons. First, I have already made promotional commitments for that day where I will have to be in Long Beach. It is something that I have been doing for the past 20 years and nothing can change that. Second, I don’t have a ride yet.

AEIOU: Does it mean that you will race at Round 4 in May?

Goebel: We are certainly working on that. As long as I have a ride, as long as I have a competitive kart and engine to race, I will be there?

AEIOU: What steps have you and/or your management team taken to achieve that objective?

Goebel: To be honest, none. I am hoping that someone out there will see this interview and will look into giving me an opportunity to race in May. I really want to do this!

AEIOU: What about the rumors that you were planning to become a model or something like that?

Goebel: I am told that I have God given natural good looks and I guess I have taken a few modeling shots here and there, but racing is what I like to do. Racing is my life. I must race TAG MASTERS.

AEIOU: Thank you very much for your time. I hope to see you at Moran in May for Round 4 of TAG MASTERS.

The addition of Mike Schumacher Goebel to TAG MASTERS is simply priceless to the series. Goebel is the 2004 World Champion of Senior Sportsman and will certainly spice things up in the world most competitive series.

Thousands of fans will be hoping that a team signs up Goebel or that Goebel is able to obtain enough sponsorships to race in May.

MakLaren International confirmed test session at Moran Raceway on Friday, April 13th according to international associated press.

Leading in both, the Constructor's Championship and the Driver’s Championship, MakLaren is taking nothing for granted and acknowledge the need to perform this test prior to race day.

“Competing at the highest level of motorsports requires strong commitments and sacrifices sometimes” said MakLaren Team Principal, Ronaldo Dennis.

“We know that Pherrari has tested at least 27 times since the last race. I also heard this morning that Team Pensque is scheduled to test this Sunday, as well as the Willians team. We want to maintain our lead in the Constructor’s Championshp and both of our drivers are leading the Driver’s Championship, so it is important that we test.”

Leader in the Driver’s Championship, Larry Hayashigawa agrees with the team and even asks for more: “We need to do as much tests as we can because that is what our competitors are doing. We need to look at every aspect of racing and work at it. I am not talking about just the engine or just the chassis set up, but everything, including my physical condition. There is a reason why I run 27 miles every morning. I look to improve every aspect, every area that can translate in better racing performance.”

Alex King is also expected to attend the team’s test session on Friday. The Brazilian had a difficult but encouraging debut last month. “I think that the fact my lap times were pretty much identical to Larry’s, I find it encouraging. I was able to pass a lot of people and felt that I was competitive. I know that we still have a lot of work to do and I know that I need to discuss with Dennis about future developments I find necessary on my engine. I am looking forward to the test and to the race. I am very comfortable and confident going into the session and race because my Manager, Sir Robert Brooks, is great and makes sure that everything is in the right place - very professional.”

One of the talking points in the racing series is the latest development and efforts set by Pherrari targeting the Constructor’s and Driver’s World Championship. Ted Kraus with Speed Canal sat down with Jack Kirkpatrick and grilled him on this subject:

Kraus: You dominated Round 1, but you failed to finish Round 2. What happened and what are your expectations for Round 3?

Kirkpatrick: The engine exploded last month and I expect to be competitive at Round 3.

Kraus: Oh yeah that was some explosion. We heard reports that you had to be hospitalized, was that because of the smoke and fire caused by the engine explosion or something else?

Kirkpatrick: It was because of the engine explosion.

Kraus: We heard rumors that your body was starting to give up and that you told the team over the radio that you couldn’t keep going anymore, any truth to that?

Kirkpatrick: You should not pay attention to rumors Ted. I would have won that race had I not suffered an engine explosion.

Kraus: So you are not denying that your body had enough, that you were physically hurt? I am only asking you this because we all know how difficult it is to control a TAG machine and how stressful on your body and mind it is to compete in this world championship.

Kirkpatrick: Drivers have to endure a lot of pain during testing and during racing sometimes. We can’t think about that. We are professionals and we do what we have to do to win. The fact is that I was leading the race, with a comfortable lead when my engine gave up.

Kraus: Brian Phillipsen tells us that he had the race under control and would eventually make a pass on you.

Kirkpatrick: We are talking about the ifs again, aren’t we again Ted? I know how much you like Brian and that his 8 world titles do mean something, but there is no way or I should say, there was no way that he was going to make a move on me under those circumstances.

Kraus: Are you guys friends?

Kirkpatrick: We respect each other. We both reside in Huntington Beach but we don’t see nor hang out with each other, if that is what you are asking?

Kraus: What about Pherrari’s latest efforts to help you regain momentum in the championship fight? You have performed over 27 test sessions since the last race, you have one of the biggest budget in the series and I am told by reliable sources that Pherrari is contemplating bringing two or three drivers to race in the series just to help you gain more points. What do you have to say to that?

Kirkpatrick: Pherrari is very passionate about racing as I am about winning. We have tested a number of different components and we have done a lot of runs, racing simulation runs to try different set ups. When you want to be on top, you have to do these things.

Kraus: But don’t you think it is a lack of sportsmanship to hire drivers just to take points away from your competitors?

Kirkpatrick: I didn’t say that, you are saying that. What I can tell you is that this is racing and this is competition. Whatever we do, I am sure it will conform with the rules. If Pherrari decides to hire more drivers, I am sure that those drivers are going out there for themselves

Kraus: Your ex-teammate, Larry Hayashigawa, is now leading the championship. Does it make things easier since he is no longer your teammate?

Kirkpatrick: I am not concerned about Larry.

Kraus: What do you mean by that? You don’t think he performs as good as you?

Kirkpatrick: I am not saying that. Larry is a very good driver, but I don’t think he is up to speed on his CRG yet and by the time he gets, it may be already to late I think.

Kraus: If Larry does not concerns you, who does?

Kirkpatrick: Myself. I just need to make sure that I am healthy, that I have the right equipment. As long as I have these two things in order, I can be competitive, I can win races and I can start thinking about the championship title. No one else can take it away form me, but myself.

Kraus: Will you test before the race on the 14th?

Kirkpatrick: We are back at the factory doing some computer modeling simulation. Our engineers will decide the necessity of testing at the track in the next day or two. My feelings are that we are.

Kraus: Jack, thanks for your time. Best of luck on the 14th.

Following his maiden win last month, Brian Phillipsen remains more determined than ever to seek another win at the third round of the Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship.

“Absolutely not” said Phillipsen when asked if his win changed his strategy. “We are fully committed. I am fully committed and determined to win again. A championship is not decided with just one win. It requires more than that. It requires the accumulation of points and the only way that I know to do that is to go after another win.”

The Pensque team is expected to be in full force at Moran Raceway on Sunday, April 8th as the team shakes down its final preparation for the upcoming Grand Prix.

“We have an outstanding relationship with our engine supplier MAXX Motorsports and our tire supplier Burris Tires” said Team Boss, Roger Pensque. “All of the primary engineers and data analysts of both companies are expected to join us for this test on Sunday. Brian Phillipsen will be there as well and at this time, we are still waiting for confirmation form Kurt’s management team that he will also join us.”

Pensque Racing Team is certainly very motivated heading into Round 3. Both drivers have shown tremendous speed and the team is confident that a few adjustments to chassis set up are all they need to be a clear dominant on April 14th. The upcoming scheduled test session is crucial to the team.

George Gallardo has been granted the green light to race the third round of Tri-C TAG MASTERS World Championship according to medical reports just made public this morning.

The Willians driver had an impressive debut last month, qualifying in second place and finishing the first heat in third place. However, Gallardo was found unfit to race the main heat due to severe cramps.

“The physical requirements to pilot a TAG machine are very high” said Team Boss, Frank Willians. “I also think that the heat did not help Gallardo’s case, but nevertheless, he has done an outstanding job for us. It is really not easy to move up to this series. The pressure to perform is very intense and the entire world is pretty much watching every move you make. It’s very hard on your mind and body.”

A test session is scheduled for Sunday, April 8th and the Italian George Gallardo is expected to be on duty to test the latest engine development by engine supplier, MAXX Motorsports.

The San Diego super star, Jeff Shadoan has officially announced today that he will not participate in the third round of the Tri-C World Championship of TAG MASTERS. Shadoan claims that lack of sponsorship is the primary reason for his absence.

“My Manager called this morning and though we are very close of singing a new sponsorship deal, we are not there yet. So, I have to seat out again in April, but hopefully and I think realistically, I will be there in May.”

Jeff Shadoan has yet to be granted a Tri-C Super License, a requirement for all pilots in the Tri-C World Championship of TAG MASTERS.

The German driver returned to the cockpit on Saturday, March 31st after recovering from severe injuries as a result of a massive accident during winter testing in December 2006. Schumacher’s efforts were very clear but he seemed obviously out of pace.

“I am not taking today’s event as a race but as a practice, as an opportunity to get back into shape and hopefully to start really racing again soon” said Schumacher.

Many had written off completely Mike Schumacher Goebel’ return to competitive racing, but speculations are out now that the German may return to racing and may join the most competitive racing series, the Tri-C World Championship of TAG MASTERS.

“I think it is normal that you guys speculate that” said Goebel, “but I can tell you that is nothing but speculations. I am still on recovery mode and whatever my Manager, William Webber, comes up with, that is where I will end up racing.”

Despite being out of racing for a long time, Goebel is still very confident that he can compete with the best in the world.

“I will have a good relationship with GP and I think that is the best chassis supplier in the world. Given that we can come up with an agreement with a strong engine supplier, I am certain that I can be competitive in TAG MASTERS. I have raced many of the pilots in that series in the past and in fact, I have beaten many of them” said a confident and almost arrogant Schumacher.

Some have raised the possibility that Goebel may partner up with Kirkpatrick at Pherrari as early as the fourth round (in May 2007). However, experts believe that realistically, it will not happen.

“They don’t like each other, actually, they hate each other” said AEIOU International Racing Radio Network correspondent, Ben Star. “The last time they raced together in the World Championship of Senior Sportsman back in 2004, they came pretty close to punching each other in numerous occasions. They called each other’s names, they offended each other’s family. It was nasty! There is no way in this world that you can put these two together in the same room so just imagine them in the same racing team. They will kill each other!”

Irish Racing’ media reports that Jack Kirkpatrick held a secret test session at Moran Raceway on Saturday, March 31st. If confirmed, such test would add to the total of 27 test sessions Kirkpatrick participated since the last Grand Prix. Unconfirmed reports suggests that Kirkpatrick was testing various Rotax and HPV components with American champion, Joe Miller. Speculations are that Kirkpatrick is unhappy with the reliability of his Leopard and is looking at a Rotax as an alternative.

Tri-C TAG MASTERS pilot, Tony Sinicropi, arrived this morning at LAX from Italy and unexpectedly ended months of speculations in regards to the second pilot that will partner up with him for the remaining of the season of Tri-C World Championship of TAG MASTERS. The Italian also made an official announcement in regards to Red Mucca Racing Team that is set to send shock waives in the world of motorsports. Here is the official and complete Red Mucca Press Release announced this morning:

Red Mucca Racing has announced a reformation and will now be called Scuderia Scorpio Rosso (SSR). Team driver Tony Sinicropi announced today at LAX as he arrived from Italy this morning, that he and newly announced co-team driver Blair Chang have purchased the team and will take over the duties of running the organization. Christiano Horner will continue on as the team manager.

"I really believe we have the right equipment to challenge for the lead in TaG Masters and after careful evaluation Blair and I decided to purchase the team and try to move it further up grid so to speak." Stated Sinicropi.



"We know we are new to TaG and are running against some of the best in the world so our goals are set realistically. This year we will work on learning and going faster as we also put together a technical support team that will be second to none. The pieces have been falling into place rather quickly since Blair has signed on."

Team drivers will continue to be Tony Sinicropi in a First Kart T.01/KRT-Parilla Leopard and newly announced co-driver Blair Chang will be piloting a GP8-100/KRT-Parilla Leopard. The team will miss the April race as they will be honoring contractual obligations at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Scuderia Scorpio Rosso will be in action in May at the Tri-C TaG Masters event but only Sinicropi will be attending as Chang will be racing in Willow springs in the ProKart Challenge.

"Blair has been anxious to get on track and race in the TaG Masters class however his chassis was not ready in time for the last race and he is committed to running in the ProKart Challenge in the very competitive ICC Masters class where he sits 7th in points." Horner stated. "Blair finished 4th last weekend at the PKC event at Calspeed, charging all the way from 30th position at the start do to a DQ in the heat race while also laying down the 3rd quickest lap time. Blair has been testing in his TaG chassis and has shown great promise. Blair's first TaG Masters race will be in June but he may not be the only new edition to the team."



Horner continued, "At this time we are under contract negotiations with a 3rd driver who will be piloting a First Kart T.01 with Leopard power. The deal is all but done, we are just waiting for his engine to be completed and returned to our racing facility so that he can begin testing. With the success last year of the First Kart/Leopard package we actually have several new drivers that are anxious to get into the new TaG Masters class. They are all trying to get their schedules cleared and begin testing. With a little luck we may have as many as 3 or 4 driver additions by early to mid summer. That would make a nice squadron to go out and do battle with!"

Red Mucca’s Team Principal, Christiano Horner, announced earlier this week that Red Mucca will be absent on Round 3 of the Tri-C World Championship of TAG MASTERS.

AEIOU Racing Radio Network’ representative, Walt Shea, met with Red Mucca’s driver, Tony Sinicropi, in Milan, Italy, while waiting to board his flight to America earlier today.

AEIOU: “To the disappointment of thousands of fans, earlier this week, Christiano Horner officially announced that Red Mucca will not run the third round of the world championship of TAG MASTERS in Beaumont, California – did you have anything to do with that?

Sinicropi: “Absolutely not. Personally, I really want to run the third round, but I do have a contractual obligation with Red Mucca Racing Team and Red Mucca has certain other commitments made for that same weekend. I read in the paper last week while attending a fashion show in Rome that Red Mucca was pulling out of TAG MASTERS and that can not be further from the truth. We are very committed and in fact, Adriano Newey has high hopes for the revised kart we will have in May.”

AEIOU: “You mentioned other commitments, what are they?”

Sinicropi: “You may not be as familiar with it as you are with Tri-C TAG MASTERS, but there is a race in Long Beach taking place that weekend. With all honesty, I am not even 100% certain of the name (loud laugh). I think it is call Champcar or something like that. Anyways, it is a sort of promotional charity event for us. Our primary sponsor, Red Mucca wants to break into the American market so they have asked me to go out there to sign some autographs and take some pictures and things like that. It will be a big party!”

AEIOU: “And what about an announcement on your teammate. The fans have been anxiously waiting for an announcement and Red Mucca has yet to announce who will partner you for the rest of the season.”

Sinicropi: “We are not in a hurry to name our second driver. I think the team is focusing in making sure they can produce one competitive kart first and that is mine. Once that is established, they can get a second driver for the team.”

AEIOU: “Rumors are that the Chinese star, Blair Chang, is on pole position to take the second seat on the team, is that true?”

Sinicropi: “I can’t tell you that.”

AEIOU: “You mean you are unable to confirm that or you are not aware that Blair Chang is the favorite to land the drive?”

Sinicropi: “I think that in regards to team issues and I particularly, issues in regards to a second driver you need to speak with Mr. Horner.”

AEIOU: “What do you think about Blair Chang? Would you like to partner with him?”

Sinicropi: “I think he is a very good driver. He has an outstanding record. I think he would be an asset to the team. He obviously comes with a very strong reputation and sure, I wouldn’t mind partnering up with him. Is that what you wanted me to tell you?”

AEIOU: “Well, I just want you to tell me the true.”

Sinicropi: “That was the true.”

AEIOU: “What about rumors that you have been secretly dating Perris Hilton?”




Sinicropi: “(loud laugh) Where did you hear that or are you just making something up right now?”

AEIOU: “I didn’t hear, I just received an email with a picture of you and Perris at a night club in Monaco and the pictures indicate that you are both pretty involved.”

Sinicropi: “Well Walt. If these pictures are real than I guess you can assume that any relationship between myself and Perris are no longer a secret, right?”

AEIOU: “I see your point. So, are you confirming that and are you planning to see her when you arrive in America? I only ask you this because some may find difficult to fully concentrate in racing while dating Perris.”

Sinicropi: “That was the last call. They are calling me. I have to go now or else I will miss my flight. I enjoy chatting with you.”

AEIOU: “My pleasure Tony. Enjoy the Long Beach Grand Prix and please send my regards to Perris – that is if you happen to see her.”
